Your data in the beta

ByPen saves your courses, learning goals, answers and progress so you can return to them. Generated learning content is researched and independently checked, but it can still contain mistakes. Report a lesson when something looks wrong.

Your OpenAI API key

Your key is encrypted on the server and used only for your learning requests. Research, generation, verification, retries, transcription and narration use your OpenAI API allowance. You can replace or remove the key in Settings. A request already sent to OpenAI may still incur a charge.

Connected services

WorkOS handles authentication. Cloudflare hosts the app and stores lesson media. Neon stores your learning records. OpenAI receives the information needed for your chosen learning task, including relevant answers and source passages. Provider retention and billing follow their account policies.

Voice and access

Recordings remain in your browser until you choose Transcribe. ByPen does not save raw recordings. Your courses are private to your account. Revoking beta access does not erase your learning records.

Export or delete your data

Email support@bypen.app from your account address to request an export or deletion. Backups are encrypted and retained for up to five weeks. Deleted API keys may remain in encrypted backups until those backups expire.
